Dr Joanne Righetti
Dr Joanne Righetti is an animal behaviourist, educating the public and professionals in all aspects of the human-animal relationship. Her background is in zoology, with a PhD in animal behaviour and a counselling diploma – qualifications which enable her to work with all sorts of animals- including the human variety!
Joanne likes to help pet owners understand their pet’s behaviour and solve any pet behaviour problems. She also consults to a variety of organisations including non-profit organisations, commercial companies and councils and is involved in a variety of media including pet magazines, TV and regular spots on radio.
Joanne has published booklets on pet behaviour including Barking Problems Solved and Cat Toileting Problems Solved. Joanne lives with a variety of animals including a dog, mixed breed, 4 cats, 2 Ferrets, 3 sons and a husband!
Dr Karen Goldrick
BVSc, CVA (IVAS)
Karen Graduated from the University Of Sydney in 1987, and has worked in small animal practice in Sydney and the UK with an interest in holistic veterinary medicine. She has studied acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS). She has also studied Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine via the Sydney College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Western Herbal Medicine via the Sydney College of Natural therapies, and the Veterinary Information Network (VIN), and animal rehabilitation.
She uses a combination of therapies for her patients including; nutritional guidance, acupuncture, Chinese and Western Herbs, Bach Flower Remedies, and Physical Therapies to aid mobility including chiropractic adjustment, myofacial release, trigger point therapy, therapeutic ultrasound and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) for pain relief.
Karen writes regularly for Wellbeing Magazine, as well as a monthly column in the local Village Voice newspaper, the Chinese Medicine Times (an international magazine for Traditional Chinese Medicine) and is currently the editor of the Journal of Veterinary Botanical Medicine for the Veterinary Botanical Medicine Association (VBMA). She is a member of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA), IVAS, VBMA and the Australian Veterinary Acupuncture Group (AVAG).
Dr Barbara Fougere
BSc BVMS (Hons) GDBus MOD&T CVA (IVAS), CVHM, CVCP, ACNEM
Barbara started her studies in complementary medicine at university in 1986. Since then she has studied human and veterinary alternative and complementary medicine and is certified in veterinary herbal medicine, veterinary acupuncture and veterinary chiropractic and has studied Traditional Chinese Medicine, veterinary and human homeopathy as well as Reiki and several other therapies.
She is currently the president of the Australian Veterinary Acupuncture Association and President for the International Veterinary Botanical Medicine Association. She is the author of Healthy Dogs, A Handbook of Natural Therapies. She has lectured in Australia, New Zealand, USA, India and Sri Lanka and is currently involved in teaching veterinary herbal medicine.
